I’ve used microsoft publisher in the past to create mock newsletters and newspapers, but I want to explore the possibilty of publishing my newsletters/newspapers on a school online forum as a converted pdf file. How can I do this/something similar to this?

Microsoft offers a free plug-in for Office programs which will allow you to save to PDF format.
Pdf995, PrimoPDF, CutePDF or SourceForge PDFCreator are free alternatives to Adobe Acrobat which will allow you to save your document to PDF format. Once one of these are installed you can simply print from your document to PDF.
If you don’t want to download software you can convert your document online for free at pdfonline.com

Of course you can if you have PDF Factory or Acrobat distiller or any Adope (not the reader version)
you can go to File - Print
in the printer selection field choose Adope PDF and click Print, Choose location and press OK

You could try PrimoPDF™ Totally Free PDF Creation.
I use it and it’s great! What happens is after the program is installed you select print from your program, then select the primopdf device as the printer and it saves your document etc as a PDF file!!
Note: PrimoPDF DOES NOT support PUB files so for this to work you would have to use Save As first, something like a Word document or Image file (JPG) and then go the print option from the appropriate program to open the file you just saved.
Another alternative is the following:
Microsoft® Office Publisher 2003
Have you created Publisher 2003 publications that you want others who don’t have Publisher to view? You can do this by using a Microsoft Office component that’s already on your computer — Microsoft Office Document Imaging 2003.
With Document Imaging, you can scan paper documents, view scanned documents and online faxes, perform optical character recognition (OCR) (OCR: Translates images of text, such as scanned documents, into actual text characters. Also known as text recognition.) on a scanned document or fax, and more. Also installed with Document Imaging is the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer print driver, a component that allows you to save any Office document (any file that can be printed from the program it was created in on your computer) in the Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) (Tagged Image File Format (TIFF): A high-resolution, tag-based graphics format. TIFF is used for the universal interchange of digital graphics.) or Microsoft Document Imaging Format (MDI) (Microsoft Document Imaging Format (MDI): A high resolution, tag-based graphics format, based on the Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) used for digital graphics.). When you use this component to save your publication as a TIFF or MDI file, others can view the content of your publication even if they don’t have Publisher.
