The quotations in The New Republic article are not mine and do not represent what I believe or have ever believed. I have never uttered such words and denounce such small-minded thoughts.
“In fact, I have always agreed with Martin Luther King, Jr. that we should only be concerned with the content of a person’s character, not the color of their skin. As I stated on the floor of the U.S. House on April 20, 1999: ‘I rise in great respect for the courage and high ideals of Rosa Parks who stood steadfastly for the rights of individuals against unjust laws and oppressive governmental policies.’
“This story is old news and has been rehashed for over a decade. It’s once again being resurrected for obvious political reasons on the day of the New Hampshire primary.
“When I was out of Congress and practicing medicine full-time, a newsletter was published under my name that I did not edit. Several writers contributed to the product. For over a decade, I have publicly taken moral responsibility for not paying closer attention to what went out under my name.”
Well if he is a racist, I guess he can be what he wants to be.. but , I would hope that he or no one else makes those choices .No one can help being the race we are. Our parents decide that for us. It a sad thing. But let just hope he did not do this, as he is running for President of the United States..

Emailer Susan sent me this letter from our pimply-faced youth, Jamie Kirchick, who first says that Ron Paul was a homophobe, and then he writes that I don’t think Ron Paul is a homophobe; I’m just cynical and enjoy getting supporters of political candidates riled up.
Paul unwisely let ugly rhetoric get published in a newsletter bearing his name nearly 20 years ago. That was a real mistake, but putting too much trust in a newsletter editor or writer is no hanging offense — and we’ll all be damned if Kirchick’s smear winds up hurting the only candidate who stands for peace and civil liberties for all Americans.

TNR Hit Piece Removed from The Drudge Report
Posted by Nick Bradley at January 8, 2008 03:30 PM
The Drudge Report is no longer linking to the Kirchick hit piece. I guess Matt Drudge has realized that it doesn’t even meet the National Enquirer level of believability and has decided to disassociate himself from such a trashy piece. FOX News won’t even link to it!
…
Ron Paul did answer it.

Dave Weigel at Reason has an interview with Paul from a couple of hours ago on the TNR hit piece:
Ron Paul: All it is–it’s old stuff. It’s all been rehashed. It’s all political stuff.
reason: Why don’t you release all the old letters?
Paul: I don’t even have copies of them, because it’s ancient history.
reason: Do you stand by what appears in the letters? Did you write these…?
Paul: No. I’ve discussed all of that in the past. It’s just old news.
reason: Did the New Republic talk to you before they ran it?
Paul: No, I never talked to them.
reason: What do you think of Martin Luther King?
Paul: Martin Luther King is one of my heroes because he believed in nonviolence and that’s a libertarian principle. Rosa Parks is the same way. Gandhi, I admire. Because they’re willing to take on the government, they were willing to take on bad laws. So I believe in civil disobedience if you understand the consequences. Martin Luther King was a great person because he did that and he changed America for the better because of that.
reason: You didn’t write the derogatory things about him in the letter?
Paul: No.
The New Republic is a Liberal propaganda rag and has been for nearly a century… lately it has degenerated to libel, personal attacks, misrepresentation of facts, character assassination, and out right lies to move forward it’s socialist agenda… One can generally dismiss *anything* that is printed in it’s pages. I’m certainly not a supporter of Ron Paul… but he has, in fact, *clearly* explained what happened… many times… over *many* years. To bring this up again is nothing less that the usual Leftist smear tactics that should be rejected on moral grounds as should anything coming from them.

Will he denounce the writers? Not likely.
Is he profitting from thousands of racists support and donations? for sure.
He said he never uttered those words, he didn’t say he never Wrote those words.
